Oil-fired Humidaire Units are typically used in regions where gas is not readily available. Fundamental operation is the same as gas-fired units, with the exception that the flame is produced by combusting kerosene. The HU-60-1465 has a control system very similar to the gas-fired HU-60-1455 with water consumption reporting, Humidaire "Speed-o-meter", and a sophisticated diagnostic system. A 5-HP water pump is used for the spray system. The model 1465 does NOT require a gas supply of any kind for ignition, but it
does require a compressed air supply for liquid fuel atomization. It will also
need the highest quality of kerosene or illuminating paraffin available.
Although diesel may be used, it is not recommended due to higher sulfur content
that tends to create acid inside the spray chamber and tank. A complete video instruction training program is available in both English and French for the model HU-60-1265, the predecessor to the 1465. (A 1465 training series is planned for the future.) Follow the links below to view a sample segment of the training series in either English or French. Much of this information is useful for any user of an oil-fired Humidaire Unit. The full video training is about 50 minutes and available on CD/ROM for play on Windows based computers. Are you new to oil-fired Humidaire technology? You might benefit from viewing
a training video. At this time we do not have a training video of the model
HU-60-1465, but there is a complete video available for its predecessor, the
model HU-60-1265. The principle of operation and maintenance procedures are very
similar. Follow this link to view a 60 second preview of the
1265 training video in English. The same
video is also available in French. As for the
1265 training video in French.
